Professor Ellis Downes has been performing obstetrics for nearly 20 years and has over 10 years experience as a Consultant Obstetrician looking after low and high risk pregnancies. He offers a comprehensive private service for pregnant women. Services include:-

Early pregnancy assessment

Antenatal Care

Delivery including elective caesarean section, normal and operative vaginal
    delivery, and emergency caesarean section

Scans are arranged as necessary. Working with his foetal medicine colleague, Mrs Pradnya Pisal, nuchal translucency measurements, serum screening and foetal anomaly scans, are routinely offered.

The usual schedule of antenatal appointments during pregnancy is monthly until 28 weeks, fortnightly until 36 weeks and then weekly until delivery. However, this is a general guide only, all women are individual and appointments are scheduled as often as necessary.

At your clinic visit Professor Downes will check that you and your baby are doing well and address any specific concerns. By the time of delivery he hopes your understandable anxiety is reduced to a minimum.

Pregnancy concerns can happen any time - day or night - and there is 24 hour access to Professor Downes if necessary.

We have a range of options to suit individual wishes including:-

• Full antenatal care and delivery
• Antenatal care only
• Delivery only

Antenatal care is available at The Kings Oak Hospital, Enfield or The Portland Hospital. Mothers give birth at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children.

If you do not wish to opt for the complete private antenatal care package you may wish to have a one off consultation with Professor Downes if you have a specific concern.
